The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) announced on Tuesday that 166 ships have shifted their routes to transit through the Egyptian waterway instead of the Cape of Good Hope since February, reinforcing the canal’s critical role in global trade.
According to the SCA, half of the European Union’s fuel shipments in March passed through the canal during the ceasefire, highlighting its strategic importance in energy transportation.
The authority reiterated its commitment to strengthening partnerships with global shipping companies and enhancing its position as a vital trade corridor, ensuring continued efficiency and competitiveness.
