Suez Canal revenues drop 45.5% in FY 2024/2025 – CBE
Egypt’s Suez Canal revenues dropped 45.5 per cent to $3.6 billion during fiscal year 2024/2025, compared to $6.6 billion a year earlier, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said in its balance of payments report.
The decline was attributed to a 55.1 per cent drop in net tonnage to 482.8 million tons and a 38.5 per cent decrease in the number of transiting ships to around 12,400 vessels.
According to the CBE data, during the second half of the fiscal year (January–June 2025), Suez Canal receipts saw a slight decline of 1.4 per cent, reaching about $1.80 billion compared to $1.83 billion in the same period of 2024, according to the CBE.
