Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Chairman Osama Rabie held talks on Wednesday with Mohamed Mouselhy, chairman the Alexandria Chamber of Shipping, and Ali Bekmezci, head of the ALCOR shipping line, to coordinate plans for increasing ALCOR’s vessel transits through the Suez Canal.
The meeting addressed strategies to attract oil tankers and dry bulk vessels operating between Europe and Asia to resume navigation via the canal, and to expand ALCOR’s shipping activity along the vital waterway.
Rabie underscored the Authority’s commitment to direct engagement with clients, adapting to rapid changes in global maritime transport, and upholding mutual interest in all dealings. He pointed to the SCA’s success in introducing flexible marketing policies and a new package of maritime and logistics services to encourage more transits amid current global challenges.
He also highlighted incentives for ships to use SCA-affiliated shipyards for maintenance and repair services, welcoming ALCOR’s proposal to collaborate with the Authority in this area.
Bekmezci expressed appreciation for the longstanding partnership with the SCA and affirmed plans to increase ALCOR transit through the canal. He also stressed efforts to draw more tankers and bulk carriers back to the Suez Canal route, leveraging the Authority’s repair and maintenance incentives.
