Egypt’s Arab Petroleum Pipelines Company (SUMED) is preparing to establish new pier in Ain Sukhna, Suez governorate with total investments of US$350 million.
Business Development Manager at Sumid, Adham Elsadek told Amwal Al Ghad Tuesday that a consortium of Egypt’s Orascom Construction (OC) and Belgian BESIX Group has been charged with project’s construction works.
The consortium will start construction works at the beginning of June 2016 and set to complete them in a period of ten months, the official said, adding that the pier is set to receive the third regasification boat. Egyptian petroleum ministry -represented in Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS)- eyes contracting on the third boat to get imported Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) shipments.
Elsadek pointed out that the pier will be built with the length of 2 kilometers with two other sub-piers; one with the depth of 15 meters and another with a depth of 19 meters.
The official asserted that the pier will facilitate processes of transporting and trading all petrochemical, chemical, and gas products on which Egypt contracted to import so as to cover large part of citizens’ needs of oil and gas products.
The state-run Sumid is committed to execute all developmental works in Egypt to boost growth rates, Elsadek clarified .
BESIX Group is the largest Belgian group, operating in the construction of buildings, infrastructure, environmental projects and roads. It is also active in the production of raw materials, facility management, real estate development and concessions.
