Supplies of Egypt gas expected in Lebanon early 2022 – minister

Egypt expects to begin exporting between 60-65 million cubic feet of gas per day to Lebanon by early next year, its Petroleum Minister Tarek el-Molla said last week.

Egypt is set to supply the gas in line with the quantity that Lebanon had requested, “as soon as we can … we might expect it end of the year, early next year,” the minister told Reuters on the sidelines of an oil and gas conference in Abu Dhabi.

“We are just (doing) due diligence, checking the pipelines,” the minister added.

In September, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan agreed during a meeting in Amman on a crisis relief roadmap as part of a U.S.-backed effort to address Lebanon’s power shortages using Egyptian gas via an Arab pipeline established some 20 years ago.
