Supply Ministry Opens Silo in Marsa Matrouh with EGP145m by May-End

Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade is planning opening new silo to store in Marsa Matrouh governorate by the end of upcoming May with EGP145million total investment.

The Ministry’s spokesman Mahmoud Diab explained that the first phase of the National Project for Silos which including 25 silos with total cost EGP1.2 billion will be finalized with the completion of this silo, noting the size of the storage capacity of silo recorded about 90.000 tons of wheat annually.

The inauguration of new silo which scheduled to launch in the ongoing of April has delayed as the Minister of Supply, Khaled Hanafy preoccupied with the new bread system which will be applied in Port Said, Diab noted.

The Nation project for silos that reached 25 silos Phase II will be started by the upcoming phase after completing Phase I , Diab illustrated.

Diab added that the aim of those silos is to keep the wheat from dust and reduce the quantities of waste from the production of a good loaf of bread, referring that the price of storing tons of wheat raised from EGP60 to EGP75 to encourage the private sector to invest in the field of silos.
