Internet Services To Be Completely Restored In Egypt Within Days

Telecom Egypt (TE) has confirmed that the internet services will be completely restored this week after repairing TE North and EIG cables.

An official source in Telecom Egypt (TE) said repairing of cable will be completely finished in the next few days, noting that the repairing process lasted nearly three weeks since the internet interruption in the final week of March.

The Source added to Amwal Al Ghad that TE will bear the cost of repairing TE North cable, but he refused to reveal the expected cost of maintenance, asserting that the repairing process will be in the second week of April.

Eng. Mohamed El-Nawawi, CEO of Telecom Egypt, said in previous statements that his company bears the costs of TE north submarine cable maintenance, while the maintenance costs of EIG and SMW4 cables will be incurred by 15 Arab and foreign operators including Saudi Telecom Company (STC).

Moreover, he has explained that TE will not compensate the internet operators in Egypt for the internet interruption this week, stressing that the company seeks to fix an internet outage within few hours.

TE stated On Wednesday that the outage of smw4 cable, one of the main submarine cables 720 meters way from North Alexandria, which affected the efficiency of internet services in Egypt and other countries.
