Telegram hit with $43,500 fine in Moscow

The Tagansky Court of Moscow has fined Telegram 4 million roubles ($43,500) for not removing information prohibited by Russian law.

The court found Telegram in violation of Part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Russian Administrative Offences Code, which mandates the removal of restricted content from online platforms.

The decision was announced on Tuesday, with the court noting that Telegram’s representatives did not appear for the hearing. This fine is part of ongoing enforcement actions against digital platforms for compliance with Russian content regulations.
