Thailand’s consumer confidence rose for the third straight month in December 2024, driven by government economic measures and a tourism sector rebound, according to a survey on Tuesday.
A survey of 2,244 respondents by the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce showed the consumer confidence index rose to 57.9 last month from 56.9 in November. All components of the index increased, reaching the highest level in six months.
Despite the rise in confidence, the reading remained below the normal level of 100, indicating that consumers still lacked confidence in the economy, job prospects, and future income, according to university president Thanavath Phonvichai.
