Thailand’s rice exports have seen a significant surge, increasing by 20 per cent year-on-year to reach 8.37 million tons in the first 10 months of 2024.
The Ministry of Commerce anticipates that the country will export over 9 million tons of rice in 2024, generating revenue exceeding $6.4 billion.
This upward trend is attributed to sustained demand, particularly for high-quality Thai jasmine rice in key markets. The increase in rice yield, facilitated by adequate water supply for cultivation, has further contributed to the export surge.
