“There is no joy left in our hearts,” – 87-year-old Christian Palestinian woman
“There is no joy left in our hearts,” said Noha Helmi Tarazi, an 87-year-old Christian Palestinian woman in light of Christmas celebrations, Al Jazeera reported.
Tarazi would usually decorate her home with a large christmas tree every year, while she prepares presents for her grandchildren.
This year; however, she will not be celebrating Christmas due to the death of two of her siblings, while another sister was maimed in Gaza.
Christmas celebrations have been cancelled in Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ.
This decision comes to show solidarity with the Palestinians killed and attacked on daily basis by the Israeli bombardment.
The Israeli attacks killed more than 20,000 people in Gaza since October 7, including at least 8,000 children.
In the occupied West Bank, the occupation forces killed more than 300 people.
“How can we celebrate Christmas in the midst of this genocidal war?” Tarazi wondered. “How can we celebrate when people in Gaza struggle to get even one meal a day?”
