Two women and one man were killed Sunday in a huge explosion that initial investigations said was caused by butane gas leak in Giza’s working class district of Faisal.
Thirteen were injured, including two in critical conditions that require intensive care, according to medical sources. The other ten mostly suffered bruises and fractures.
The death of the two women were first confirmed before judge Rashwan Mohamed was pronounced dead upon succumbing to his injuries.
Mohamed was walking in the street by chance when the explosion took place.
The blast, which took place next to a gas station, destroyed several vehicles as well the facades of surrounding buildings.
Giza governor Kamal El-Daly said the residential building where the explosion took place would be evacuated and removed after being badly damaged by the blast.
He also said the government would provide the dwellers, who live in six apartments in the building, with residential units after the evacuation.
