Tons of aid pile up in Egypt with nowhere to go
Tons of life-saving aid for civilians of Gaza are piling up at hangars of Egypt’s Al Arish Military Base with nowhere to go, local press reported on Thursday.
The military base is now serving as warehouses, for aid boxes that are all sealed, labelled, and ready for dispatch.
The relief is meant for Palestinian citizens caught in a spiralling humanitarian crisis.
Due to Israeli side not cooperating, trucks’ movement is limited and fuel is in short supply, only food, water, and some medical aid can make it through the border.
According to the UN, the aid that made it to the strip is nowhere near enough.
“We have received over 700 metric tonnes of aid for Gazans but the stocks are piled up here at the military base due to limited trucks crossing the border,” said Khaled Zayed, head of the Egyptian Red Crescent in North Sinai.
As we make it to day 20 of the aggression on Palestine, Gaza’s medical system has collapsed, with more than 6,500 killed and more than 20,000 injured.
The UN reported that 60 percent of the victims are innocent children and women.
