The volume of total investments in all phases of Cairo Metro Line three is estimated at 52.8 billion Egyptian pounds (US$5.9 billion), Chairman of Egypt’s National Authority For Tunnels (NAT) stated.
Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad Monday, Tarek Gamal El-Din said that the cost is enormous due to the large volume of current works at project’s different phases.
After finishing all phases, Line 3 is set to transport around three million passengers in the Greater Cairo.
He added that returns of the third line is set to cover the high costs necessary for executing it.
The chairman clarified that works at first and second part of the fourth phase of line three , i.e. 4A and 4B, will be carried out in parallel to be inaugurated by July 2019 according to the determined schedule.
Gamal El-Din noted that works at 4A part is under construction and set to start from Haroun station on Heliopolies to El Nozha station with total length of 5.51 kilo meters.
