TotalEnergies exits South Africa blocks

TotalEnergies will withdraw from Block 11B/12B off the southern coast of South Africa, following its partner CNRI’s decision to exit. TotalEnergies EP South Africa holds a 45 per cent interest in the block, which it joined in 2013.

The company made two gas discoveries, Brulpadda and Luiperd, but could not commercialise them due to economic challenges in the South African market.

In addition, TotalEnergies will also exit offshore exploration Block 5/6/7, where TotalEnergies EP South Africa holds a 40 per cent interest.
