Tourism records highest revenues ever during 2019: CBE
The tourism sector recorded its highest ever level of revenues in Egypt’s history with $13 billion in 2019, compared to $12.5 billion in 2010 and $11.6 billion din 2018, according to The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).
According to CBE’s statistics, the total tourism revenues increased to reach $13.03 billion dollars in 2019, against 7.8 billion in 2017, $2.5 billion in 2016 and $6.1 billion in 2015.
The number of tourists who visited Egypt in 2019 was estimated at 13.1 million, compared to 11.3 million in 2018, 8.3 million in 2017, 7.7 million in 2016 and 3.8 million in 2015.
The number of tourists in 2019 is less than that in 2010, which was estimated at 14.7 million tourists, according to the CBE’s statistics.
