Trump says to mobilise the U.S. military to deliver vaccine when available
U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the American military will distribute doses of the coronavirus vaccine when there is one, Reuters reported.
“You know it’s a massive job to give this vaccine,” Trump told Fox Business Network in an interview.
“Our military is now being mobilized, so at the end of the year, we’re going to be able to give it to a lot of people very, very rapidly.”
Trump added that he expects to have a vaccine by the end of the current year, Reuters reported.
However, scientists could not express the same confidence. Members of the White House task force have repeatedly said a vaccine would take between 12 and 18 months to develop, but even that would be a record timeframe for the development of a safe and effective vaccine.
