Tunisian president supports Egypt’s plan to reconstruct Gaza

Tunisian President Kais Saied said on Monday that his country supports Egypt’s Reconstruction Plan for Gaza that ensures the rebuilding of the enclave without displacing Palestinians.

During a phone call with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Saied praised Egypt’s role in formulating the reconstruction plan, which aims to provide both urgent relief and long-term development for the devastated region.

Both leaders reaffirmed their absolute rejection of any attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians or undermine their national rights. They emphasised that a just and lasting resolution to the Palestinian cause must be based on internationally recognised principles.

President El-Sisi stressed that the only path to lasting peace in the region is the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Beyond the Palestinian issue, the discussion also focused on strengthening Egyptian-Tunisian relations, with both presidents commending the positive momentum in their countries’ cooperation. They expressed a shared commitment to expanding collaboration, particularly in economic and trade sectors, and exploring new joint projects that align with their national development goals.
