Turkey is the biggest importer of Egyptian plastic products, seizing 34 percent for the first nine months of 2015. Turkey’s imports of Egyptian plastic products have reached 1.4 billion Egyptian pounds (US$178.7 million ) in 9 months.
The Egyptian Chemical Export Council (CEC) stated in its report issued Saturday that Egypt’s exports of plastic products have reached 6.6 billion pounds at the end of September 2015 versus 7.8 billion pounds a year earlier, marking 16 percent decrease.
According to the report, Belgium was the second largest importer of Egypt’s plastic products with Egyptian imports estimated at 474.2 million pounds then Sudan (364.5 million pounds), Iraq (355.4 million pounds), and Italy (304.7 million pounds).
The Egyptian Propylene and Polypropylene Company has seized 28 percent of sector’s total exports with 1.1 billion pounds during January-September 2015, followed by Sidi Kerir Petrochemicals co. (SIDPEC) whose exports are estimated at 711.3 million pounds then Flex P Films Egypt Co. with exports worth 458.7 million pounds
The report also showed that the exports of Taghleef Industries company recorded around 393.6 million pounds during the first nine months of 2015 while the exports of Al Amal Company For Plastic Pipes & fittings (Al sharif) are estimated at 265 million pounds.
