Turkey’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose by 49.38 per cent annually and 2.97 per cent monthly in September 2024, according to the latest data by the Turkish Satistical Institute (TURKSTAT) on Thursday.
The CPI, based on the 2003 benchmark of 100, showed a month-over-month increase of 2.97 per cent, a year-to-date rise of 35.86 per cent, and a twelve-month moving average of 63.47 per cent.
Transportation recorded the lowest annual increase at 26.60 per cent, while education saw the highest surge, reaching 97.87 per cent. On a monthly basis, communication experienced a decline of 0.88 per cent, contrasting with education’s sharp rise of 14.21 per cent.
Among the 143 basic headings in the index, 110 saw increases, 27 decreased, and 6 remained unchanged. Excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, and gold, the CPI indicator increased by 48.23 per cent annually and 3.22 per cent monthly.
