Two Israeli lawmakers ejected after upstaging Trump’s Knesset speech with ‘genocide’ sign
Trump praises ‘efficient’ ejection
US president Donald Trump’s speech to the Knesset on Monday was briefly interrupted — not by applause, but by two lawmakers holding up a sign that read “genocide.”
Ayman Odeh, an Arab-Israeli member of the left-wing Hadash party, and his Jewish colleague Ofer Cassif, managed to steal the spotlight for a moment before being swiftly ejected by security. Their silent protest, though short-lived, drew more attention online than much of Trump’s very lengthy address about peace and regional stability.
Both lawmakers have been outspoken critics of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, calling it a moral catastrophe.
As security removed the pair, Trump smiled and remarked, “That was very efficient,” before continuing his speech on peace and freedom. The line — delivered as dissenting voices were silenced — drew laughter in the chamber, and raised eyebrows outside it, for its unintended irony about the day’s demonstration of “free speech.”
