The volume of trade exchange between Egypt and the United States rose 22.9 percent to around $1.225 billion in the first two months of 2019 from $944.276 million last year.
In February, trade between the two countries grew 11 percent to $599.65 million against $533.729 million during the same month in 2018, Egypt’s state-run statics agency CAPMAS announced in latest bulletin on Sunday.
The report showed that the U.S. was the third biggest importer of Egyptian products, seizing 6.4 percent of the total exports during January and February. U.S. imports from Egypt amounted to around $294.071 million in two months, up 26.1 percent from 233.24 million in the same period last year. They were mainly garment, carpet, and textile.
On the other hand, U.S. was also the third biggest exporter to Egypt in the first two months, seizing 7.5 percent of total Egyptian imports. Egypt imported around $930.256 million from the U.S., up 30.9 percent from $711.036 million in the same period last year. U.S. exported to Egypt, mainly grains, oil seeds, medical plants, and fodders.
