U.S. inflation slows 3% in June
U.S. inflation slowed three percent to record its lowest annual rate in more than two years in June, resulting in some slowing costs while price increases were running at a more than 40-year high.
Core inflation, which excludes more volatile food and energy prices, is higher at 4.8 percent, but also down from the 5.3 percent rise in May, according to data released Wednesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Analysts’ forecasts pointed to headline inflation of 3.1 percent and core inflation of 5 percent. However, in one of those market paradoxes, investors expected inflation to come in below expectations
