Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) signed a five-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply deal worth between $450 million and $550 million with Japan Petroleum Exploration, according to its statement on Thursday.
The agreement comes after the Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s visit to the UAE and other Gulf states in July, which focused on securing energy supplies for Japan, the statement mentioned.
ADNOC’s CEO Ahmed Alebri said “we are very pleased to strengthen this relationship through this LNG supply agreement,” adding that Japan is most important energy partner.
Alebri further noted that the deal strengthens his company’s position to be a global LNG export partner of choice and highlights the company’s growing global presence in the Asian market.
