UK compiles 417-page list of goods for possible retaliatory tariffs

Britain on Wednesday released a 400-page list of potential US goods for retaliatory tariffs in response to President Donald Trump’s 10 per cent levies on British imports.

The list includes consumer goods such as binoculars and Bourbon whisky, as well as industrial items like automotive parts and petroleum products.

The UK government emphasised that not all items on the list—covering around 27 per cent of US-origin imports—would be targeted, and it remains focused on securing an economic agreement with Washington.

Business Secretary Jonathan Reynolds reiterated Britain’s “cool-headed” approach, distinguishing it from the European Union’s immediate retaliation.

A four-week consultation with businesses will run until May 1, allowing stakeholders to provide input. Reynolds stated that talks with the US will continue with the aim of ensuring economic stability, and any retaliatory measures would be paused if a trade deal is reached.
