UK Queen Elizabeth II dies at 96
UK Queen Elizabeth II, the second longest-reigning monarch in history, died at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, Buckingham Palace has announced on Thursday.
In June, the United Kingdom celebrated her 70 years on the throne with a Platinum Jubilee.
She was 96.
Elizabeth was the elder daughter of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. In 1947, she married her cousin, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh; Prince Charles is the eldest of their four children. She was crowned in Westminster Abbey on 2 June 1953.
