Ukraine’s economy to grow by 3.0% in ’24 – EBRD
Ukraine’s economy is projected to grow by 3.0 per cent in 2024, as forecasted in the Regional Economic Prospects report released on Wednesday by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
This is a drop from the 5.3 per cent growth seen in 2023, which halted a sharp fall in growth in 2022 due to Russia’s invasion.
Despite a record harvest supporting growth in 2023, recent war damage to Ukraine’s electricity infrastructure is expected to constrain further growth in 2024.
The EBRD’s overall 2024 projections for its regions (central and eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the southern and eastern Mediterranean) also predict a 3.0 per cent output growth, up from 2.5 per cent in 2023.
Despite global geopolitical tensions and trade limitations, growth in these regions is projected to increase to 3.6 per cent in 2025.
