The United Nations’ rights chief Volker Turk called on Monday for an urgent ceasefire in Gaza as its residents confront Israeli bombardments in response to Hamas attack on Israel earlier this month.
Turk also urges on the need for a prompt delivery of humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza, adding that violence will never end unless leaders stand up and take the brave and humane choices that are required by fundamental humanity.
It is worth mentioning that a third aid convoy of 20 trucks entered Gaza through the Rafah crossing with Egypt on Monday – a development for Gaza’s population of 2.3 million people, who are trapped and running out of food and clean water.
