URGENT: Bank of China President Liu Jin resigns

Bank of China (BOC) announced on Sunday that Vice Chairman and President Liu Jin has resigned for personal reasons.

The state-owned lender confirmed the resignation in a statement, adding that its board has approved Chairman Ge Haijiao to serve as acting president in the interim.

Liu, 57, is a seasoned figure in the Chinese banking industry. Prior to joining Bank of China as vice chairman and president in 2021, he held senior positions at major institutions like Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) and China Development Bank. He also served as president of China Everbright Bank.
