URGENT: Egypt’s annual core inflation hits 14% in March – CBE

Egypt’s annual core inflation rose to 14.0 per cent in March, up from 12.7 per cent in February, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) said on Thursday.

On a monthly basis, core consumer prices recorded 2.0 per cent in March, compared with 3.0 per cent in February and 0.9 per cent in March 2025, the CBE said in a statement.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and energy, is closely monitored by policymakers as an indicator of underlying price pressures and a guide for potential interest rate decisions.

The CBE is scheduled to release its full monthly inflation report on 15 April, providing a more detailed breakdown of price developments across the economy.
