URGENT: Egypt’s core CPI inflation eases to 23.2% YoY in Dec – CBE

Egypt’s core consumer price index (CPI) inflation, which excludes fuel and some volatile food items, recorded 23.2 per cent year-on-year in December 2024 compared with 23.7 per cent in November 2024, central bank data showed on Thursday.

On a monthly basis, the core CPI inflation recorded 0.9 per cent in December 2024 compared with 1.3 per cent in December 2023, and 0.4 per cent in November 2024.

Monthly urban headline CPI inflation recorded 0.2 percent in December 2024 compared with 1.4 percent in December 2023 and 0.5 percent in November 2024, CAPMAS reported earlier the day. On an annual basis, urban headline CPI inflation reached 24.1 percent in December 2024 compared with 25.5 percent in November 2024.

CBE will release the monthly inflation note on January 15, 2025.
