US President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has authorised a 90-day pause on certain tariffs, while simultaneously raising the tariff rate on China to 125 per cent, effective immediately.

At his Truth Social account, Trump confirmed the pause would apply to tariffs on countries that have not “retaliated in any way, shape, or form against the United States,”, with a “substantially lowered” reciprocal tariff of 10 per cent. This move is part of his broader strategy to renegotiate trade terms with various nations.

Trump also mentioned that over 75 countries have reached out to the US to discuss tariff agreements, signaling a potential shift in global trade dynamics.
