The US Federal Reserve decided to hold its key interest rate steady on Wednesday as it enters a wait-and-see mode on inflation.
The policymakers kept interest rates at the current target range of 4.25 per cent to 4.5 per cent, warning that “inflation remains somewhat elevated.”
The pause comes after the US central bank cut rates three consecutive times to end 2024.
This is Fed’s first key decision from under President Donald Trump’s second term, and comes after Trump said he should have some say in the central bank’s policy.
