U.S. stocks end week on high note, post weekly gains

U.S. stocks staged a strong rally Friday, shrugging off a surprisingly weak jobs report which had led markets lower earlier in the session. Friday’s rally helped indexes end the volatile week with gains.

The S&P 500 SPX, +1.43% closed 27.53 points, or 1.4%, higher at 1,951.35 and recorded a 1% gain over the week. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +1.23% jumped 200.36 points, or 1.2%, to 16,472.37 and was 1% higher for the week.

The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +1.74% advanced 80.69 points, or 1.7%, to 4,707.78 and ended with a 0.5% weekly gain.
