Vietnam recorded a trade deficit of nearly $170 million in the first half of July 2024, with exports at $16.26 billion and imports at $16.43 billion, according to Vietnam Customs Statistics data.
In the first half, Vietnam’s total trade value reached $402.62 billion, a 16.4 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Exports grew by 15.2 per cent to nearly $207.25 billion, while imports rose by 17.6 per cent to $195.37 billion.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) contributed significantly to the overall trade figures. Trade involving FDI companies amounted to $272.87 billion during the same period, representing a 14.8 per cent year-on-year increase.
