Eng. Khaled Hegazy, Governmental and External Affairs Director at Vodaofone, denied that Sinai was cut off from mobile phone service during the operations of the Egyptian army to cleanse the area of terrorists.
In exclusive statements to Al Masry Al youm, Hegazy stated that the mobile service was stopped for only hours yesterday, and specifically in the period from 4 a.m till 6 p.m due to a malfunction in the communications cable in Rafah, North Sinai.
However, social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter have reported that the mobile network was shut down to facilitate the attack for the security bodies.
