Volvo reported a 33 percent year-on-year increase in its June sales on Wednesday, with 66,379 cars, boosted by electric car sales. The Swedish automaker sold 9,535 electric cars in June, up by 346 percent, the company said.
“The overall sales increase was driven by the company’s fully electric cars, which quadrupled compared to the same period last year; figures from June 2022 were negatively affected by lower production due to last year’s supply chain constraints,” Volvo said in a statement.
Volvo’s car sales in Europe, its biggest market, increased by 70 percent, with total car sales in the U.S. increasing by 53 percent.
