Egypt’s Minister of Tourism Hisham Zaazou, has asserted that the tourism sector adversely affected by the events which witnessed by the country, pointing out that the foreign countries’ decisions to impose a travel ban on tourist destinations, has reduced the proportion of incoming tourism by 95%.
The Minister added in his keynote speech at Euromoney’s 19th Annual Conference Cairo on Monday that the Ministry has succeeded in cooperation with the foreign Ministry and the concerned authorities to lift travel bans on tourist destinations and to boost the incoming tourism from Europe by 20%.
He said the coming period will need to focus on pushing the tourism movement in Upper Egypt, specially ‘Luxor and Aswan’ where tremendously affected by Egypt’s turmoil condition.
He has explained that the Tourism Ministry has put strategy and it focused on Europe markets which represent 70% from the incoming tourism, noting that the Ministry is seeking in its strategy to open new markets in Brazil, China and India and this will be the coming step by the end of December.
