A bomb dates back to the World War II has exploded at around 17:00 GMT on Friday in the English town of Great Yarmouth, as workers attempted to diffuse it, BBC announced on Saturday.
The workers discovered the 250kg unexploded device on Tuesday in a river crossing Great Yarmouth, and began attempting to cut into the bomb on Thursday, using a technique that creates a slow burn of the explosives
Norfolk Police tweeted “we can confirm that no one was injured. Public safety has been at the heart of our decision making all the way through this operation, which we know has been lengthy.”
“This has been a painstakingly long process but public safety and that of the people involved in the operation has been at the heart of decision-making,” Norfolk Constabulary’s Assistant Chief Constable Nick Davison said in a statement.
The communities in Great Yarmouth have been thanked for their patience and understanding following a four-day major incident which ending on Friday, with the explosion of a WWII bomb, according to an official statement.
