Some of the owners of yellow remittances are protesting today in front of Rafidain Bank, blocking Tahrir Street in Dokki district. The protestors were not allowed to enter the Bank to enquire why their names were not written in the schedule set for disbursement.
It is worth mentioning that more than EGP one billion were disbursed in the last three weeks to 250 thousand Egyptians, out of US$ 408 million (=EGP 2.5 billion) the total value of yellow remittances transferred by Iraq government to Central Bank of Egypt owed to 637 thousand Egyptian workers who left Iraq in the 1990s during the first gulf war.
