Zambia’s copper output up 30% in Q1 

Zambia’s copper production rose nearly 30 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, reaching approximately 224,000 metric tons, up from 173,000 metric tons during the same period last year, Minister of Mines, Paul Kabuswe, said in a statement Wednesday.

The surge was driven by improved output from two key producers, Konkola Copper Mines and Mopani Copper Mines, which ramped up operations during the quarter.

As Africa’s second-largest copper producer, Zambia is working to revitalize its mining sector to draw fresh investment and boost export revenues from its most valuable commodity.
