The rate of tourism in Cairo and the surrounding areas has been affected by the latest political tensions, said Egyptian Tourism Minister, Hesham Zazou; referring that the cultural tourism is the mostly influenced kind by the political turmoil.
During his interview in “AlBalad AlYoum (The Country Today)” talk show, Zazou added that the 76% of the tourists in Egypt are from the European countries, while the US tourism became less after the incidents happened outside the US embassy.
The minister said the religious tourism is significant and attracts the tourists, and Egypt has many of religious attractions, therefore we are trying to restore the tourism by providing security to the tourist.
Zazou elaborated that he is confident of restoring the tourism in a short period, so the stability in Egypt is a prime step.
