$11.25mn allocated to upgrade Egyptian Culture Ministry’s info system

Egypt’s Ministry of Culture is allocating about100 million Egyptian pounds ($11.25 million) to upgrade its entire information system within a five-year plan 2016-2020.

Speaking to Amwal Al Ghad on Saturday, Mohammed Farid, senior IT Consultant at Ministry of Culture, said his ministry collaborates with many local as well as global technological firms, notably Microsoft Corporation, to implement its plan.

Farid asserted the great importance of digitalising the ministry-owned tremendous content and make it available in an electronic format.

This move will encourage other 17 affiliates to the ministry to take the same action with a vast amount of paper documents they have.

Accordingly, the official website of the ministry of culture will undergo a total makeover in a matter of three weeks.

Ministry of Culture has previously won Excellence Shield in information technology for executing several projects in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to promote digitization as a technology solution.

The IT sector in the Ministry of Culture has so far launched official websites for 8 government affiliates, including the official website of Arts Academy, Artistic theatre House, the Supreme Council of Culture, and others.
