Coronavirus death toll in hospitals across the U.K. has surged to 20,319, a surge of 813 over the past 24 hours, the health ministry announced on Saturday.
The UK has around 150,000 confirmed infections as of Saturday.
The country has the fifth-highest coronavirus death toll in the world, after the U.S., Italy, Spain, and France.
In mid-March, the UK government’s chief scientific adviser said that keeping the number of deaths below 20,000 would be a “good outcome,” according to Reuters.
