Egypt’s headline inflation rises 2.3% in October – CAPMAS
Egypt’s consumer price index (CPI) registered 109.9 points in October, rising by 2.3 percent from September, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS).
The increase in the consumer price index was due to the increased costs of schools as the secondary and vocational school fees increased by 56.6 percent, preschool and primary education school fees by 20.1 percent, and higher education fees by 13.2 percent.
However, the prices of meat and poultry rose by 1.2 percent, ready-made garments by 0.2 percent, outpatient services by 0.6 percent, and hospitality services by 13.5 percent.
On the other hand, prices of fruits declined by 7.9 percent, grains and bread by 0.4 percent, and fish and seafood by 0.4 percent.
