India unveils 109 high-yielding, climate-resilient, biofortified crop varities

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday the release of 109 new crop varieties designed to be high-yielding, climate-resilient, and biofortified.

During the launch, Modi emphasised the environmental benefits and cost savings these new crops will bring to farmers.

He also highlighted the growing demand for organic food in India and praised agricultural scientists for their contributions in developing these innovative varieties, which are expected to significantly impact the nation’s agricultural sector.
