CPA Uses Judicial Arrest Against Companies Rig Prices

Gen. Atef Yacoub, Chairman of Consumer Protection Authority (CPA), said the authority uses the judicial arrest right against the companies of mineral water that rig the prices.

In his statements to “Amwal Al Ghad”, Yacoub said the authority detected many violations made by some companies, which manipulate the prices due to declining the supply of the mineral waters during the last period as well as closing down some companies by the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

Yacoub indicated to his call to the Ministry of Health to change the states of the companies that had been suspended recently; elucidating that CPA has formed a joint committee, with the Investigation of Supply and Egypt Competition Authority, in order to monitor any violations.

He added that the authority is waiting for the response of Egypt Competition Authority against a number of companies of mineral water that rigged the prices last February.
