Cambodia’s exports surge 17% in 9m of ’24

Cambodia’s exports have experienced a significant boost in the first nine months of 2024, reaching a total value of $19.83 billion. This represents a 17 per cent rise compared to the same period last year, when exports amounted to $16.94 billion.

Key export commodities driving this growth include garments, footwear, travel goods, bicycles, car tires, and agricultural products such as rice, rubber, cassava, bananas, mangoes, and longans.

The United States, Vietnam, China, Japan, and Canada emerged as the top five export destinations for Cambodia during this period, according to a data publised by the General Department of Customs and Excise released on Thursday.

Imports into the Southeast Asian nation also saw a notable rise, reaching $21.1 billion from January to September 2024. This marks a 15.9 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023, when imports totaled $18.2 billion.

Major imported goods included petroleum, raw materials for garments, footwear, and travel goods, vehicles, machinery, electronic appliances, and consumer products.
