Bank of Japan (BOJ) earned 1.264 trillion yen ($8.31 billion) in dividends from its holdings of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the first half of the current fiscal year, up from the 1.137 trillion yen earned in the same period last year.
However, the BOJ paid more interest on excess reserves held by financial institutions, totalling 392.2 billion yen, a significant increase from the previous year’s 92 billion yen, as its fiscal first-half earnings results showed on Wednesday.
