CBE: Egypt’s issued banknotes hit EGP 1.259t by Sept ’24

The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported on Monday that the country’s issued banknotes totaled 1.259 trillion Egyptian pounds by the end of September 2024, marking a slight decrease from 1.268 trillion pounds in August 2024.

The value of EGP 200 banknotes stood at 833.754 billion pounds in September, a small decline from 835.837 billion pounds the previous month. Meanwhile, the amount of EGP 100 banknotes in circulation reached 358.186 billion pounds, down from 361.835 billion pounds in August.

The total value of EGP 50 banknotes also decreased, standing at 38.660 billion pounds in September, compared to 41.255 billion pounds in August.
